I feel fortunate to be from Montana for so many reasons. I grew up just outside of Billings, in a farming community. We have a school, a bar, and a post office. But most of all, we have land and livestock.
I grew up painting what I know best, the animals, landscape & people of where I am from. I love the subtle shifts of neutral colors dotted with the light & dark shapes of cows & horses.
Occasionally you see a bit of pure color, but overall we have a sea of neutral. It might be boring to some, but to me it’s evokes words such as calm, grounding, and peace.
